Hand-Painted Commissioned Portraits

I am a multidisciplinary artist with a career that weaves together photography, painting, and mixed media. I began my career in 1991 as an advertising and fashion photographer, collaborating with Italian and international brands. This experience allowed me to develop a keen eye for light, composition, and visual storytelling.
In 2010, I rediscovered painting, focusing particularly on watercolor. This technique offered me new expressive possibilities, leading me to experiment with combinations between the delicacy of water and the solidity of other materials. My work primarily revolves around portraiture and figurative art, with a particular focus on capturing the emotional depth of my subjects. After years spent perfecting the study of light and the human figure, today I work as a portrait artist in Milan, translating into my visual language the stories and faces of those who choose to trust my vision.
Becoming a member of the American Watercolor Society in New York in 2023 was a significant milestone in my artistic journey. My works are showcased on international platforms like Saatchi Art and are part of several private collections, a recognition that motivates me to continue my research.
The interplay between painting and photography is a natural way for me to tell stories, exploring new expressive paths while maintaining a balance between technique and spontaneity.

FAQ – Hand-Painted Commissioned Portraits

How do I commission a custom portrait painting?
To commission a hand-painted portrait, simply contact me through the website contact form, by email, or via my Facebook page. I will guide you through every stage of the process, from selecting the reference photo to the completion of your custom portrait.
What photo should I provide for a portrait from a photograph?
For the best results, please provide a high-resolution photograph that is well lit and captures the personality of the subject. I can assist you in selecting the most suitable image, or if you are based in Milan, I can arrange a dedicated photo session by appointment.
What techniques do you use for commissioned portraits?
I create artistic portraits using primarily classical techniques, including oil portraits on canvas, paper, or wood panel, watercolor portraits, pencil-drawn portraits, and mixed-media works on paper and canvas that combine painting, drawing, and collage elements.
Each portrait is an original, bespoke artwork created specifically for the client and designed to preserve its quality and beauty over time.
Can I request a custom portrait size?
Yes. In addition to standard dimensions, I create bespoke portrait paintings in custom sizes designed to suit your space and personal requirements.
How long does it take to complete a commissioned portrait?
Most portrait commissions are completed within one to five weeks after final approval. During busy periods, completion times may be slightly longer, but I will keep you informed throughout the process.
How much does a commissioned portrait cost?
The price of a custom portrait depends on the size, technique, and number of subjects included. Following an initial consultation, I will provide a detailed, personalized, and no-obligation quote.
Can I see a sketch before the final portrait is painted?
Yes. In many cases, I provide a preliminary sketch or study to ensure the artistic direction meets your expectations before work begins on the final portrait.
Do you ship portrait paintings internationally?
Yes. I ship original portrait artworks throughout Italy and worldwide upon request. Each painting is professionally packaged and shipped using a tracked courier service.
Is the portrait signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity?
Every original portrait is signed and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The signature can be placed on the front or discreetly on the reverse, depending on your preference.
Can I commission a portrait as a gift?
Absolutely. A custom portrait is a meaningful and memorable gift for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirements, and special occasions. Personalized gift vouchers are available in both digital and printed formats.
Do you create memorial or posthumous portraits?
Yes. I create memorial and posthumous portraits based on photographs supplied by family members. I will help you select the most suitable images to create a respectful and lasting tribute.
Do you paint pet portraits?
Yes. I create custom pet portraits of dogs, cats, and other beloved animals. You may choose either a realistic portrait style or a more expressive artistic interpretation.
Who owns the portrait once it is completed?
The original artwork becomes the property of the client. Copyright and reproduction rights remain with the artist in accordance with international copyright law. If you prefer your portrait not to be published or shared, simply let me know when placing your commission.
